Need help?
You can turn to your
township for a variety of services, including: |
Financial Assistance
Residents in financial
need who are not eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or
other government-sponsored assistance, and who meet income and asset
guidelines, must apply for General Assistance.
In exchange for benefits, you may apply for work in a community service
program. Residents call 708.366.2029 or
Contact
Us.
Food Assistance
We provide information about the community
Food Pantry and referrals to the
Holiday Food and Gift Basket program
operated by the Community of Congregations. Over 60? Be sure to check
out our Senior
Services Food Program.
Links to Health Care
If you are a low-wage or part-time worker, the Township may be able to
help you and your family find health care assistance.
KidCare provides health insurance
for pregnant women and children age 18 and under.
Access to Care assists with doctor's bills and
prescription costs for individuals who are not covered by insurance,
Medicare or Medicaid.
Medical Equipment
The Townships loan out medical equipment such as wheelchairs, canes,
walkers and shower chairs free of charge for as long as the equipment is
needed. We also invite donations of gently used medical equipment.
Services to Citizens with Disabilities
In addition to services available to all township residents, we offer
some special services for citizens with temporary or permanent
disabilities. These include transportation, meal delivery, temporary
handicapped parking cards, RTA reduced fare cards, cab coupons, home
energy assistance, property tax/rent rebate, pharmacy benefits and daily
phone calls to check on a resident's well being.
A Center for Information and Referrals
If we can't provide the services you need through our direct services or
our contracted partners, we'll help find someone who can. |
