August 2026

Thank You, Township Friends!

This is my last Township newsletter with my retirement later this month. It has been an honor to serve you and support our community these past three and a half years. The Township Board will appoint a new Township Supervisor at the August 11th Board meeting to be effective September 1, 2026.

Read below to learn more about Township programs and services. We have a Property Tax Appeal forum tonight at 6PM plus many exciting and new programs for older adults. All details are also found at RiverForestTownship.org, the RF community calendar at rfhappenings.com, and the joint calendar of events for older adults with Oak Park Township.

The last section of this newsletter talks about what is proposed to happen with the River Forest Civic Center Authority (“RFCCA”) effective September 29, 2026.

WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH THE RFCCA?

The River Forest Civic Center Authority (RFCCA) is the owner of the property located at 8020 Madison Street in River Forest. At the RFCCA Board meeting yesterday, the Board voted to consolidate the Authority with the Village of River Forest effective September 29, 2026.

This has been a multi-year process and the RFCCA Board felt this move would give the building the greatest chance of remaining open. This solution would allow more resources, and potentially TIF dollars, to help address the $5 million plus repairs the building desperately needs.
