TOWNSHIP BUDGET VOTE - JUNE 9

The Township is about 1% of your property taxes with 80% of the Township dollars going directly to resident programs. Following the Budget Public Hearing on May 12th, the final hearing and action on the budget ordinance will be taken at the regular meeting held on Tuesday, June 9 at 6:30PM at the RFCCA Building (8020 Madison) Room 208.

APPLY TO BE TOWNSHIP SUPERVISOR BY JUNE 25

With the upcoming retirement of Supervisor Becvar, a new Township Supervisor will be appointed to fulfill the remaining term through May 2029. To be considered for the vacancy, you must be a registered voter who has resided in River Forest, Illinois for at least one year. The position requires a minimum of 1000 hours per year (half of which in the Township office) and pays $49,382 per year. Headed to the Farmers’ Market? Let the Township give you a ride! We offer transportation for older adults ages 60+ every Saturday throughout the season. Enjoy the market without the hassle - we’ll get you there!

Pickups: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM going to Lake St. & Elmwood Avenue in Oak Park. Call 708-383-4806 Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM to schedule. Open to seniors and those with disabilities in Oak Park and River Forest. Suggested donation of $1 per ride.

ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY - JUNE 15

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15 is a reminder that we all play a role in protecting and supporting older adults. Elder abuse can include neglect, as well as physical, emotional, financial, or other harm and it affects individuals, families, and our entire community. The Township offers services and resources to support older adults and help prevent isolation - one of the key risk factors for abuse.
