Addiction Prevention & Treatment
River Forest Township works with local agency partners to fund a wide range of programs in the areas of behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disabilities, domestic violence, underage substance use and addiction recovery.
The following agencies receive funding from River Forest Township to provide ADDICTION PREVENTION and TREATMENT services to our community.
Parent University - multiple events (including November 13, 2025) at OPRFHS open to everyone in the community, whether your kids attend public or private school.
Way Back Inn - provides treatment programs for those recovering from alcohol, drug or gambling addictions. RFT funds community outreach and services. The Township also sponsors The Way Back Inn’s programming at OPRFHS and other local schools.
Young Adult Recovery Program
Here is a breakdown of what this new program consists of:
1: This program is completely FREE
2: Client needs to be between the ages of 18-24 and have an opioid or stimulant use disorder. This does not need to be their primary diagnosis.
3: If client has any mental health disorders or any other substance abuse disorders, that is fine. They at least need to have an opioid or stimulant use disorder to qualify for this program.
4: Client will live at the Way Back Inn while being in treatment
5: Client will be working with peer support/peer recovery coach
6: Client will attend group sessions where they learn about life skills (examples-doing laundry, how to save money), as well as how to find employment, find permanent housing, and help with enrolling in school if the client chooses to go to school.
7: Client will receive a transportation voucher to take the train and bus
8: This program is considered non-clinical. If the client chooses to receive treatment such as seeing a psychiatrist or therapist, staff can help assist the client with getting appointments set up
9: This program focuses on helping the client grow, become independent, learn life skills, and learn recovery skills
10: Client may enter this program if they are on medication assisted recovery (methadone, naloxone, suboxone)
11: If the client completes the program, Way Back Inn will cover up to $1500 or their first 3 months of rent in their new permanent housing.
