River Forest Township Assessor Services can answer many questions about real estate and property tax bills. Property values are determined by the Cook County Assessor’s Office.

  • The Cook County Assessor has Certified River Forest 2026 Values

    We would like to inform you that the River Forest Township has officially been certified. We are preparing for the upcoming Board of Review appeal period.

    We are closely monitoring all information as it becomes available.

    As soon as the Board of Review announces appeal filing dates and deadlines, we will promptly share it.

    Our goal is to ensure that you have all the information and resources you need to successfully navigate the appeal process.

  • Property Exemption Applications Now Available Online

    First Time Exemption Applications
    Taxpayers applying for the Homeowner, Senior Citizen, Senior Freeze, Veterans or Disabled Homeowner Exemptions for the first time can find these applications on the Cook County Assessor's website.

    At this time all exemption applications will be filed as Certificates of Error.

    You can easily file online at the Cook County Assessor's website.

  • Cook County Board of Review Pre-file Available

    Beginning July 20, 2026, the Cook County Board of Review is accepting 2026 valuation complaints for all townships.

    Since River Forest Township has received the results of the 2026 Cook County Assessor appeal, our office can now provide comparables to help you prepare your Board of Review filing.

Tax Year Exemption Applications


Property Tax Cycle

The new year introduces the start of a new property tax cycle. We will continue to have appeal sessions with the Cook County Assessor and the Board of Review. Exemption applications will be processed, tax levies will be determined by taxing bodies and 2025 property tax bills calculated, sent and due all before the end of 2025.


Property Tax Exemptions

To verify which exemptions were received last year, homeowners can visit the Cook County Property Tax Portal at cookcountypropertyinfo.com, enter their PIN and look under the exemption tab.

For first-time applicants, the tax year exemption filing period will begin in the first quarter of the year. Homeowner are encouraged to file online. To learn more about property tax exemptions and eligibility, visit cookcountyassessor.com/exemptions.



Early Payment for 2026 First Installment Tax Bill

The Cook County Treasurer may make it available to pay one’s 2026’s first installment tax bill in December. If you choose to make your payment early, follow this link
