Employment and Volunteers

River Forest Township has no employees; its elected officials and works primarily through Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs) and our outsourced agency partners.

With the upcoming August 2026 retirement of Supervisor Becvar, a new Township Supervisor will be appointed to fulfill the remaining term through May 2029. To be considered for the vacancy, you must be a registered voter who has resided in River Forest, Illinois for at least one year. The position requires a minimum of 1000 hours per year (half of which in the Township office) and pays $49,382 per year. Applications are now closed and interviews are scheduled with the candidates.

Additionally, we rely on citizen volunteers to advise on needs and funding priorities and to help with youth, family, mental health and senior services. Your gift of time, talent and service can make a real difference in the lives of neighbors in need. Township Committee Members are volunteers who are registered voters appointed by the Township Board to serve up to 3-year terms.‍ ‍Learn about our Committee Member Policy. Delivering meals to seniors isn’t just about dropping off food - it’s about being a friendly face and spreading joy. We are seeking volunteers with a car to deliver meals to older adults two mornings per week for about two hours each day.
